When we were opening The Space it was very important to us that it would benefit our community in multiple ways. By helping raise funds, by offering community haircut days, by offering stylist education, by hosting events, by showing up for our community the way y'all show up for us!
Community haircut days
As a queer owned salon we want to ensure that access to our chairs are is always available to those who may not be able to prioritize luxuries like salon visits. One way we do this is by doing community "soft pricing" haircut days. Each of our stylists does 1 full day of these every other month. Stay up to date on our Instagram as these are announced and then have limited availability.
During Pride month (June) we prioritize our fellow LGBTQIA2S+ community by doing a salon wide day of free queer affirming haircuts titled Gender Free Haircut Club.
At The Space Salon, part of our mantra is community over competition meaning that we put a focus on our community relationships so we can all grow together. to transform our industry standards. Building healthy relationships with other salons to uplift one another and remove the outdated industry “standards” that plagued our community for too long.

Are you a stylist interested in teaching classes but don't know where to do it? Our salon reserves Sundays for Education! Whether it be a business class, look and learn, or hands on hair class, we would love to open our space to you! The lil queer library
Featuring a diverse array of queer representation. Separated into categories such as; drag, ace, gay, sapphic, trans, graphic novels, and educational.
How does it work? Come into the salon, choose your book, fill out a library card, then enjoy reading! When you're finished, return it to the library, and maybe pick out your next title.
Queer history, knowledge, and joy is rarely shared. We are so honored to be able to bring this to the Fort Wayne Community.
